You Can Help Save Water: Turn Off The Faucet While You Brush

Water usage has been growing at more than twice the rate of population increase (Source: UN). One in every 3 people doesn’t have access to clean water to meet their daily needs (Source: WHO). And half of the world’s hospital beds are filled with people that are suffering from water-related diseases (Source: The Water Project). There are so many causes for these problems and when you look at the research, it’s easy to get discouraged. And even easier to just ignore the problems.

WE KNOW IT’S A MONUMENTAL PROBLEM. BUT WE CAN ALL DO BETTER

Even though it’s easy to ignore the problem or decide that your efforts won’t have an impact, we don’t see it that way. At our practice, we’re doing what we can. We strive to rethink and replace outdated methods and technologies. Our goal is to bring you quality dental care WITHOUT abusing natural resources. And that starts with an effort to stop wasteful water consumption. We start by making an effort to save water. And you can too.

IT MAY NOT SEEM LIKE MUCH. BUT YOU CAN HELP. AND YOUR PART IS EASY.

We’re members of the Eco-Dentistry Association. They’re running a campaign called “Save 90 A Day”. The idea is simple. Turn off your faucet while you brush your teeth. The average person wastes 90 glasses of water every day just by letting the water run while they’re brushing their teeth. In the US alone that’s 27 billion glasses of clean, drinkable water wasted every single day!

If you’d like to help do your part, take the pledge to Save 90 A Day at the Eco-Dentistry Association’s website. Make sure to let them know that Annapolis Green Dental sent you there by putting our name in the “Dental Office” field. Once you’ve filled out the pledge, share it with someone, “Like” this page to show your support or leave us a comment so that we know that you’re with us!

Do you have other easy water-saving tips of your own? We’d love to hear them! Comment below, or on our Facebook page. We’re always excited to hear about the clever ways people have of being eco-conscious.
