One-Visit Porcelain Bridges in Annapolis & Calvert
Durable, Natural-Looking Dental Bridges in One Visit
A dental bridge is a series of connected crowns that are used to fill in a gap created by one or more missing teeth. The outer crowns on each end of the bridge are placed over the teeth adjacent to the gap, and this gives the bridge its support. Dental bridges are an economical and fast way to replace a missing tooth, and require no surgery. Our doctors are highly skilled and experienced in creating and placing dental bridges. In many cases, we can create and place bridges in one day, using our in-office CEREC® (CEramic REConstrution) computer-aided design and milling system. We use solid, biocompatible porcelain so our bridges won’t fracture and won’t cause any allergic reactions.
Special testing available for optimum biocompatibility
We fabricate our restorations out of porcelain and zirconium porcelains. These materials are very strong and have been documented to have little, if any, reactivity in patients. However, as some people are hypersensitive, Dr. Schultheis offers the option of taking a small sample of your blood to be used for a personalized biocompatibility test. The test will verify which of our materials will be the most compatible for your body.
All-Porcelain Bridges in One Visit
Using our in-office CEREC computer-aided design and milling system, Dr. Schultheis is able to design, fabricate and place a durable and biocompatible all-porcelain dental bridge in one visit. The entire process can take as little as two hours.
After taking a digital impression of your teeth and gums, Dr. Schultheis uses this digital impression data in special 3D design software and creates a precise virtual model of your dental bridge. The design is then sent over to the system’s milling unit, where the bridge is fabricated out of a solid block of high-quality porcelain that is very durable, very natural-looking and shade-matched to your natural teeth.
After the bridge is made, Dr. Schultheis will make any final adjustments needed for a good fit. She will then permanently place your bridge. With CEREC-fabricated bridges, you won’t have to wear a plastic temporary bridge and won’t have to come back for a second appointment.

Certain cases required a traditional lab-created crown. We work with labs that can fabricate high-quality restorations according our exact specifications. They can also produce and return the dental bridge to us in 72 hours, as opposed to the usual two weeks. This means you only have to wear a temporary bridge for a very short time
Mouthguard for added protection
Teeth grinding or clenching can put added pressure on the teeth supporting your bridge, and can lead to those teeth weakening over time. Dr. Schultheis provides a mouthguard for you to wear when sleeping, so clenching or grinding will not affect the teeth supporting your bridge.
Five Year Warranty on All Porcelain Bridges
We back all of our porcelain bridges with a five year warranty. Contact our office for more information.
Dental Bridge or a Dental Implant?
For replacing missing teeth, Dr. Schultheis recommends dental implants as the healthiest and most long-lasting option for anyone who is eligible to receive them. With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime, whereas bridges generally have a lifespan of about 15 years. Additionally, the cut-down teeth on either end of the bridge are more vulnerable to decay or fracture, and this can lead to more extensive treatment over time. Dental implants do not require cutting down adjacent healthy teeth. Dental implants also prevent the bone loss that occurs as a natural consequence of missing teeth. This is something dental bridges cannot do.

Dental bridges as a solution
Dental bridges are a faster and initially more economical option for tooth replacement, and do not require surgery. They can be a suitable option when the teeth adjacent to the gap are already broken down and need crowns themselves.
Dental bridges are also a good solution for patients who do not wish to have anything implanted into the body. However, we provide biocompatible titanium and ceramic implants that have been proven, over many years, to be very safe, stable and biologically friendly.
Individualized Treatment Options
