How We Create Your Beautiful New Smile

Doctor and patient smiling

We can create any kind of smile you desire.

Dr. Schultheis takes into account everything that affects the beauty of a smile. This includes the shape of your face, the position and shade of your teeth and the appearance of your gums.

We can create any kind of smile you desire. We have many designs to choose from, as well as before and after photo books that you can look at. We love to make our patients look beautiful, and many of them have said they look at least 10 years younger after their smile makeover!

Below are the major steps we take to complete a smile makeover.

Exam and consultation

Dr. Schultheis starts with an oral exam, which includes an evaluation of your face shape and photos of your smile that she can manipulate in our cosmetic imaging software. You can view how your smile could look using cosmetic procedures. You can also view our before and after photos to help you decide how you would like your smile to look. Dr. Schultheis will consult with you in detail about what you want to achieve and answer your questions.

Come in for our Cosmetic Consultation Special Offer.

Dr. Schultheis creates a customized treatment plan to meet you smile goals.

Your custom treatment plan

Dr. Schultheis creates a customized treatment plan to meet your smile goals. She explains your proposed treatments in detail so you understand exactly what is being proposed—and why. She also answers all of your questions so you can make an informed decision and feel comfortable about your program.

Study model and wax models of your new smile

Dr. Schultheis takes impressions of your teeth to create a plaster study model. She uses the model to help design your smile. To get your final approval before starting your procedures, Dr. Schultheis also creates a wax model of your smile as it will look when treatment is completed. She shows it to you and makes any adjustments needed until you are completely satisfied with the plan. She can also place “try-in” wax teeth to give you a clear picture of what to expect.

Biocompatibility testing

We fabricate our dental restorations out of high-quality porcelains that have very little, if any, reactivity in patients. Our dental implants used for replacement teeth are made out of biocompatible titanium or porcelain ceramic.

Dr. Schultheis offers personal biocompatibility testing to ensure there will be no adverse reactions from any materials used. She can send a small sample of your blood to a special lab to verify which materials will be the most compatible with your body.

Conditions We Can Fix with Cosmetic Dentistry

  • Teeth that are chipped, cracked or rough
  • Crooked teeth or teeth that are at an odd angle
  • Stained, discolored or dark teeth
  • Gaps or spaces between teeth
  • Fillings that do not match the color of your teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Missing teeth
  • An uneven gumline around the teeth
  • Gums covering too much of the teeth (a “gummy smile”)

Procedures We Use for Our Smile Makeovers

Following are the main procedures Dr. Schultheis uses to give you a bright new smile.

Porcelain veneersPorcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain facings that are bonded to the front of teeth to change their shape, size and/or color. Dr. Schultheis meticulously designs and places the veneers so they look very natural and aesthetic.

Chairside veneers with dental bonding

Dental bonding is a tooth-colored resin used to correct minor chips, cracks, or gaps between the teeth. It can also be used to change the shape and size of teeth, though bonding is not as durable as porcelain veneers. Dr. Schultheis will let you know if dental bonding is an option for your treatment.

Porcelain dental crownsPorcelain dental crowns

A dental crown is normally used cosmetically when a tooth needs both structural repair and cosmetic improvement. Dr. Schultheis fabricates all-porcelain crowns that are strong, aesthetic and fit comfortably in your bite.

Teeth whitening

We provide many teeth whitening options, including natural alternatives. Professional-level teeth whitening is generally more effective and safer than over-the-counter products.

Clear aligner teeth straighteningInvisalign® clear teeth straightening

Dr. Schultheis provides Invisalign® and ClearCorrect clear teeth straightening. Clear aligners are a comfortable and virtually invisible alternative to traditional braces for straightening your teeth. A series of almost invisible clear plastic aligners are used to gently straighten your teeth, instead of using awkward and uncomfortable brackets and wires. The aligners can be removed any time for eating, cleaning your teeth or for special events.

Dental implantsDental implants

If you have any missing teeth, we can replace them with dental implants and aesthetic, natural-looking new teeth. Dr. Schultheis and her team are able to perform all stages of the treatment in-house for most patients.

Cosmetic gum treatments

Dr. Schultheis can gently recontour your gumline or fix a gummy smile using a minimally invasive dental laser. We also provide treatment for receding gums.

One-visit veneers and crownsCEREC machine

If dental crowns or porcelain veneers are part of your treatment plan, Dr. Schultheis can often provide them in a single visit. Our CEREC® (CEramic REConstrution) computerized design and milling system for dental restorations allows her to fabricate all-porcelain restorations—while you wait. Depending on the procedures you need, you may be able to complete your smile makeover in as little as one or two visits.

For restorations that need to be made in a lab, we partner with labs that can fabricate porcelain crowns, bridges and veneers according our exact specifications, and have them back to us in 72 hours (rather than the customary two weeks). This means you only wear a temporary restoration for a few days.

Five-year warranty on all-porcelain restorations

Dr. Schultheis backs all of her porcelain restorations (crowns and veneers) with a five-year warranty. You can find out more about our warranty by contacting our office.
