Natural, Holistic Dentistry for Children

Doctor with children

We provide gentle, natural and holistic care for children and teens.

We provide gentle, natural and holistic care for children and teens. We use products that don’t contain allergenic ingredients, such as gluten—which is present in many traditional dental products, and BPA—which is usually present in fillings and dental sealants. We offer flouride-free tooth remineralization treatment for prevention of tooth decay. We can often heal early-stage cavities without the use of a dental drill or dental fillings. We also have effective natural toothpastes available for purchase.

Our doctors and staff are friendly and experienced with putting children at ease. We start seeing children six months after their first tooth comes in, which is usually when they are about one year old.

Our Gentle Dental Services for Children

We provide comprehensive services to keep kids’ teeth clean and healthy, including the following services.

Ozone therapy, oral probiotics and remineralization to heal cavities

Ozone therapy is a safe and effective way to halt tooth decay in early-stage cavities. Ozone gas penetrates deep into the tooth enamel and kills the decay-causing bacteria. At the same time, it neutralizes the bacteria’s acidic waste products. We also give children oral probiotics that crowd out the bad bacteria. This creates an environment where good bacteria can repopulate and tooth remineralization can occur. Our doctors are often able to treat cavities without any drilling or fillings!

Fluoride-free treatment for strengthening and remineralizing teeth

Our doctors and staff are friendly and experienced with putting children at ease.

When a cavity is still in a very early stage, it is often possible to reverse the damage to the dental enamel by “remineralizing” the tooth. We use fluoride-free, plant-based substances to remineralize and strengthen the tooth enamel, and repair early-stage cavities.

BPA-free sealants

A dental sealant is a thin coating of protective material that can be applied to the surfaces of children’s teeth to help prevent cavities. Our sealants are non-toxic and BPA-free.

BPA-free fillings

If a cavity has progressed beyond a stage where natural repair is possible, then we use a metal-free, BPA-free filling to repair and strengthen the tooth.

Gentle laser treatment for frenectomies and tongue ties

Children sometimes have difficulty speaking or eating because the ties between their gum tissue and their lips (known as “frena”) or the band of tissue under the tongue is too tight or thick. Dr. Schultheis uses a dental laser to remedy this condition during a quick, gentle procedure.

Early, Preventive Orthodontics

Dentist consulting a family

We provide early, preventive orthodontic treatment for children aged 6–17 using the Myobrace system.

Dr. Schultheis is proud to provide a revolutionary breakthrough in orthodontics—the Myobrace® preventive orthodontics system for children aged 6–17. Myobrace treatment uses metal-free, removable oral appliances and a program of exercises to correct bad oral habits. Research has found that the incorrect habits of the oral muscles inhibit the proper growth and development of the jaws and facial structures.

The Myobrace system effectively guides and promotes the natural development and alignment of the jaws. In turn, this results in correctly aligned teeth, and reduces or even entirely eliminates the need for orthodontic treatment with braces.

Myobrace has been in use for over 20 years and has been proven to be safe and effective.
